Bug#74783: pdflatex is segfaulting. :(

Okay.

I've replaced my /etc/texmf/texmf.cnf file with yours, and all
sorts of things segfault, including kpsewhich and pdflatex (and
latex, for that matter)!

I discovered a linebreak in your TEXMFCNF definition.  When I
removed it, programs started working again.

Give that a try.  Also, consider replacing your TEXMFCNF
definition with the one from a new installation (you may have a
texmf.cnf.dpkg-dist file already).

Let us know if that works.
