Bug#576752: apt: should dpkg-source be run automatically when apt-getting a new source version?
package: apt
version: 7.25.3
severity: normal
hi, currently, "apt-get source" will refuse to run dpkg-source when
there is an existing version of the source package in the current
directory.
i think it would make more sense to automatically extract the newer
source if the existing source is unaltered (or perhaps automatically
merging). otherwise, i find myself manually running dpkg-source very
often, which isn't too burdensome, but it would be much nicer if the
tool were smarter. thanks.
