Yeah, unless you just play Hunt The Wumpus. Without accelerated
graphics, you're missing out on a lot I already paid for. I refuse to
cripple my hardware on purpose since I'm a geek, not a fool.
The reason the driver failed might be because the OP didn't install the
dkms package. I went through the update and my nvidia setup is still
rolling along. OTOH, if he would boot and get a black screen, move the
mouse to see if there is a mouse cursor. If so, enter a terminal
(ctl-alt-F1) logging as user and enter "startx" to see if his desktop
comes back.
