I just had a look to the link I sent you (there's some times
I didn't installed BackupPC); I made a mistake: it is hardlinks
it uses.
And V.4 (although tagged alpha, but without any update from
2013/12:), uses a very different backup system, allowing
super fast restores.

Oops, I wasn't thinking about keys but HD filling.
FTR, haveged gives you a reservoir of entropy based upon
/dev/random.
