I use JWM,SCIM and openoffice.org of Lenny,this is the content in my .xsession file,my SCIM can input Chinese charactar in openoffice.org.
export LC_ALL=zh_CN.UTF-8
export LANG=zh_CN.UTF-8
export LANGUAGE=zh_CN.UTF-8
export XMODIFIERS="@im=SCIM"
/usr/bin/jwm
