As a side note, it doesn't seem very obvious why does tetex-bin need to
depend on libpng2[1] and libz1, or why does it have two dependencies on
tetex-lib[2], or why does it depend on ed. The README.Debian file includes
the configure command line, but doesn't have any other details.

[1] this:
 for i in `dpkg -L tetex-bin | grep /bin/`; do ldd $i 2>/dev/null | grep -q libpng.so && echo $i; done
basically gives me pdfetex and pdftex, which are a small part of such a
large package, so the Depends: doesn't seem warranted.

[2] one is from tetex-lib's shlibs, the other is manually added?
 tetex-lib (>= 1.0.6-2)
 tetex-lib (>= 1.0.6)
