Hello.

I'm having problems with updating my debian testing systems. When
running apt-get update I get following errors:
Failed to fetch
http://security.debian.org/dists/testing/updates/main/binary-i386/Packages.gz
404 Not Found
Failed to fetch
http://security.debian.org/dists/testing/updates/contrib/binary-i386/Packages.gz

Failed to fetch

It's because there is no directory named testing in both
http://ftp.sk.debian.org/debian-non-US/dists/ and
http://security.debian.org/dists/ .

This is my /etc/apt/sources.list
linux:~# cat /etc/apt/sources.list
deb http://ftp.sk.debian.org/debian/ testing main contrib non-free
deb http://security.debian.org/ testing/updates main contrib non-free
deb http://ftp.sk.debian.org/debian-non-US testing/non-US main contrib non-free

Is this going to be fixed over time or I have to edit my sources.list on each
of my machines?

Best regards

Jan Gregor

Currently there is no security support for the testing distribution.
The Security Team will probably start supporting the new testing aka
Etch shortly before the release which is likely to happen sometime in
2006, until then better disable the second line of your sources.list.
Please see <http://www.debian.org/releases/etch/> for the current
status of the testing distribution.

non-US has already been obsoleted for Sarge, the new release of
Debian, and won't be needed for the testing distribution anymore, so
better delete the last line of your sources.list.
Please see
<http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/i386/release-notes/ch-whats-new#s-no=
n-us>
for the announcement for Sarge or
<http://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2005/06/msg00719.html>
for a recent thread about this subject.

So in conclusion: yes, I'm afraid you need to edit the sources.list on
each of your machines. Closing this bugreport now.

HTH,
Flo
