Re: woody upgrade & odd DNS/SSH behavior

Yes, doma is the nameserver, as well as firewall/gateway/mailserver, etc. igra
is a client on the LAN.

Well, the 'order hosts, bind' entry can be found in /etc/host.conf, which is
identical on doma (potato) and igra (woody):
mattyt@igra:~$ cat /etc/host.conf
order hosts,bind
multi on
They both also have identical /etc/hosts files, and the /etc/resolv.conf is
nearly identical, with the first host on doma being 127.0.0.1 and the first
host on igra being 192.168.1.1 (doma's IP). The 2nd and 3rd entries are the
primary and secondary DNS of my ISP.
Something changed during the upgrade to woody, since doma is still able to
do 'ssh -l mattyt igra', whereas igra can't do 'ssh -l mattyt doma' anymore,
although using the IP address works.
And, ssh under igra must be reading one of the /etc/hosts files, since the
error says, "ssh: doma.mattyt.net: Name or service not known", when all I typed
in for the host was doma, not doma.mattyt.net.
Cheers......... :)
