Bug#237227: A keyboard modifier does not work when ssh does X11 forwarding
Package: ssh
Version: 1:3.8p1-1
Severity: important
Tags: sid
This bug is manifest in the new version of ssh; it is not manifest in
the earlier version 3.6.1p2-12.
The bug is related to the client part; the bug is not manifest when
running old client against new server.
I am using xserver-xfree8 4.3.0-5, kde versions mostly 3.2.1-1. When
I connect to another debian system using "ssh -X" I cannot use the
"AltGr" modifier in programs such as xterm and emacs.
I use a Danish pc105 keyboard; on such a keyboard several ASCII
characters (such as @, ~, |, ...) are placed in AltGr positions.
I include the xmodmap dump (it is identical in clients connected
directly to the server and clients connected via X11 forwarding ssh):
> xmodmap
xmodmap: up to 2 keys per modifier, (keycodes in parentheses):
shift Shift_L (0x32), Shift_R (0x3e)
lock Caps_Lock (0x42)
control Control_L (0x25), Control_R (0x6d)
mod1 Alt_L (0x40)
mod2 Num_Lock (0x4d)
mod3
mod4 Super_L (0x73), Super_R (0x74)
mod5 ISO_Level3_Shift (0x71)
Please don't hesitate to contact me if more information is needed.
