There is no real need to ask.  You are member of Debian Science team
and so you have accessto the git repository.  You might like to read

BTW, this was a *general* remark - not connected to the now existing
DebiChem Git repository (as Daniel announced here).  So if you are a
member of the Debian Science team you can use either Svn or Git as
a temporary or long term solution for your scientific software packaging
if you do not find a better fitting home.
