I do not claim to understand everything of this: When trying to Ask a question on hplip launchpad project page I gound: https://answers.launchpad.net/hplip/+question/31660 So the issue appears to be worked on. But there might also be a charset related issue as well: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hplip/%2Bbug/162196 There are also several Novell bug reports about this: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=386853 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=387130 Do not know whether they belong to the same bug. Also hp-setup appears to be affected. Maybe this bug should be splitted out. FWIW I am still using de_DE@euro (ISO-8859-15) locale.
