The .so file in /usr/local/lib/site_perl is certainly compiled with
perl-5.004 ... and there is no Pg.so (compiled with perl-5.005) file in
/usr/lib/perl/5.005/i386-linux/. Install your package before trying to
use it. :-) Otherwise the module in /usr/lib/perl5 would have been 
found before the one one /usr/local/site_lib/...

And remove your manually installed module in /usr/local/site_lib to be 
sure.
