Hmm. Looks your system is borked somewhere else too... Maybe this is the
actual cause?

Did you look at that?
I havn't had the time to look into it but i will.

rene, here's the actual error that i got yesterday and again today when
running dist-upgrade. Sorry i didn't include it yesterday. I had hoped
the reportbug program would do this.

How should it do this? Id doesn't know what you want to report...

Setting up openoffice.org-debian-files (1.1.2-5+1) ...
Creating symlink /usr/lib/openoffice/share/dict/ooo ->
/usr/share/myspell/dicts...

Setting up openoffice.org (1.1.2dfsg1-3) ...

Setting up openoffice.org-bin (1.1.2dfsg1-3) ...
Prelinking OpenOffice.org binaries... /usr/sbin/oooprelink: line 83:
32115 Segmentation fault /usr/sbin/prelink $DEBUG
--ld-library-path=/usr/lib/openoffice/program --conserve-memory
--libs-only /usr/lib/openoffice/
run-parts:
/usr/share/openoffice.org-debian-files/hooks/postinst.d/prelink exited
with return code 139
dpkg: error processing openoffice.org-bin (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1

This is actually the prelink program segfaulting (as the message says).
So no bug in OpenOffice.org.
You're correct. I removed the prelink package and openoffice.org installed just fine.

Moreover, you still didn't answer my other question (see above). It
looks to me that *something* on your system is b0rked but not related to
OOo...

Grüße/Regards,

René
Thanks for your help. BTW what do you think of prelinking openoffice.org? Are the benefits in start up time significant?
