Dear Maintainer,

octave fails to build in sid and stretch as can be seen on
https://reproducible.debian.net/rbuild/unstable/amd64/octave_3.8.2-4.rbuild.log
and
https://reproducible.debian.net/rbuild/testing/amd64/octave_3.8.2-4.rbuild.log
with several errors like this:

moc: Invalid argument
Usage: moc [options] <header-file>
-o<file> write output to file rather than stdout
-I<dir> add dir to the include path for header files
-E preprocess only; do not generate meta object code
-D<macro>[=<def>] define macro, with optional definition
  -U<macro> undefine macro
-i do not generate an #include statement
-p<path> path prefix for included file
-f[<file>] force #include, optional file name
  -nn do not display notes
  -nw do not display warnings
@<file> read additional options from file
  -v display version of moc
( echo '#ifdef HAVE_CONFIG_H'; echo '#include <config.h>'; echo '#endif'; moc-qt4 -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I.. -Wdate-time -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 src/octave-qt-link.h ) > src/moc-octave-qt-link.cc-t
moc: Invalid argument

As far as I can see this is a distinct issue and not #790533.

cheers,
