No, it's an ecoff image.
Loaded from the debian archive. "vmlinux-2.4.3.ecoff" renamed to
"vmlinux" so i have to type less... i tried the ELF image as well, same
error message, i believe.

As i wrote in the first mail, TFTP correctly transfers the first block
(i even checked the contents, it's the right file), the first block is
ACK'ed by the Indy.

As the machine was administred by some admin's before me, it could well
be that some of them installed an incorrect prom update.
That's why i don't want to use the IRIX installed - i fear it's quite
messed up... i was told that the netscape proxy on the machine was
configured with less than 10 MB Cache...

It's an Indy with a R4000 100 MHz Processor and 8 bit graphics - so this
is supposed to be a standard indy with nothing special...
I just checked "version" again, it does say IP24.
