I also have not been comfortable with Dolphin. If it had bookmarks, that
would make a big difference.

Thank you for the recommendation. I've been looking at other file managers,
and Krusader is one that I am considering.

You may want to keep watch on this bug report:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=373824
Comment 39 is quite recent and sounds promising. Maybe restoring the
sidebar can be ready in time for Buster's first point release next month.
