I remember having had that problem as well when I wanted to upgrade from KDE
2.2 to KDE 3.0.2 on woody. I __think__ I resolved it by removing the old kde
stuff first (apt-get --purge remove kdelibs3), and then trying to install
kdelibs, arts, and kdebase. Whenever it said 'this package has unmet
dependencies and XYZ is not going to be installed' I tried to install the
unmet dependencies first (esp. libqt3-mt, and kdelibs4). In order to make it
work I had to set my apt sources line to unstable while I did that...
Some of the installations downloaded okay, but then the install failed for
some reason. Doing a couple of 'apt-get -f install' seemed to resolve
everything fine and I've got a working KDE 3.0.2 system now :-)
I used the instructions and apt sources lines from here:

Cheers

PS: When I said 'I _think_' I meant it ;-)
