Backups across a network, debian->NT

Hi,

I have a machine which runs Debian, mail server, et al. Also on the
network, (not LAN, but bandwidth is good), is an NT with a Travan IDE.

I need to take a backup, infrequently, of the debian. Is there any
client-server suite I could use on this congiguration? I need to backup
_from_ debian, _to_ NT.

In a pinch, I could backup to a file, copy the file over, and copy to
tape, but ...

Further, I would appreciate pointers to what I need to backup from the
/etc directory, typically, to be restored if the machine (12 time zones
away) dies, but I can get another Debian there up. I realize the short,
and correct, answer is: depends on what I am running, but any experiences
will be appreciated.

Thnaks
