I also strungly suggest you try (use) Gmfsk.  It doesn't require tuning, and it 
also seems to use the sound interface nicer than the others seem to.

DCOP is a KDE thing.  Since kpsk was created to use on KDE desktops, it 
will call on many of the KDE libs (which will make a rather large install if you 
do install this package).  Still, you can do it if you decide to.
