Yes you can add a spam-hunter on the firewall,
this might be better then adding a spam-hunter behind
the reciving mta. you must also have a spam-hunter
who can deliver mail to another server like spamassassin....
and you must oipen the port 25 in the INPUT chain from your firewall,
but notice you have then no spamblock checks only if the hunter support's that.
And the MX-Entry in the DNS must point to the external IP/Name of your firewall
so that other MTA's deliver to.
