Clarification of www.debian.org/releases/testing/i386/apds03.html.en needed
On a Debian Jessie system I am trying install Debian Jessie to another
partition using the instructions in "D.3. Installing Debian GNU/Linux
from a Unix/Linux System".
"D.3.4.1. Create device files" describes creation of device files but
makes no mention of udev for current systems.
It also states
<begin quote>
A few of the available options are:
install the makedev package, and create a default set of static
device files using (after chrooting)
# apt install makedev
# mount none /proc -t proc
# cd /dev
# MAKEDEV generic
manually create only specific device files using MAKEDEV
</end quote>
There is definition of "MAKEDEV".
This is true for both stable and testing.
Clarification please.
TIA
