backports dist-upgrade issue (udev breaks consolekit)
Dear maintainers,
I am using Debian stable with wheezy-backports and I had a dist-upgrade
issue today.
all of these package were removed :
The following packages will be REMOVED:
aptdaemon colord consolekit gdm3 gnome gnome-bluetooth
gnome-color-manager gnome-core gnome-power-manager
gnome-session gnome-session-fallback gnome-shell
gnome-shell-extensions gnome-system-log gnome-user-share
libcanberra-pulse network-manager-gnome policykit-1 policykit-1-gnome
pulseaudio pulseaudio-esound-compat
pulseaudio-module-x11 python-aptdaemon python-aptdaemon-gtk
python-aptdaemon.gtk3widgets python-aptdaemon.gtkwidgets
software-properties-gtk
I've tried to dig a little bit, and it seems that the "udev" package
from the current backports breaks "consolekit" (which is needed by the
removed packages) :
# apt-get install udev
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following extra packages will be installed:
libudev1

After this operation, 35.2 MB disk space will be freed.
Do you want to continue [Y/n]?
an "aptitude dist-upgrade" gives an interesting message :
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
udev : Breaks: consolekit (< 0.4.6-1) but 0.4.5-3.1 is installed.
libvirt-bin : Breaks: avahi-daemon (< 0.6.31-3~) but 0.6.31-2 is
installed.
Breaks: avahi-daemon:i386 (< 0.6.31-3~) but it is not
going to be installed.
libvlccore5 : Depends: vlc-data (= 2.0.3-5) but 2.1.2-2~bpo70+2 is to
be installed.
I have not seen such related bug in the debian bug report tool, and it
doesn't seems to be described in the mailing list.
Several people in my lab had also this problem and some were in serious
trouble because they've lost their desktop.
Does someone has noticed this issue somewhere else ?
What can I do to help this to be resolved ?
Thank you very much,
Best regards
PS:
sorry for my poor english
Olivier
