 Please don't abuse backports for bug fixing for stable.  If there is a
security bug present in stable it should be fixed in stable, not in
backports for stable.

 Backports is about having new features available, not about working
around pushing important bugfixes into stable.  I will question and
block such backports requests with that reasoning because that's an
abuse of backports, and doesn't help the stable users.

 That said, git is always welcome in backports anyway, because of its
userbase and constant development.  But please don't bring it up with
the wrong reasoning.
