lenny-backports will exist until support for Lenny is dropped officially
(usually one year after it became oldstable). Backports, thus, should be
supported for that period of time as well.

So, if you're willing to support your backport for the entire life-time
of lenny-backports and users will benefit from the backport, it's a
valid candidate for bpo, imho.
